License to listen

Composers, performers, distributors, authors and songwriters working in the music industry have a right to earn a living.  PRS for Music and PPL ltd are the two licensing organisations have been set-up to help them to collect royalties for the use of their music.

Music has been shown to have many therapeutic benefits including reduction of pain and stress and positive effects on the autonomic nervous system.  Many practitioners will testify to the benefits of playing music on their therapeutic interactions.  Playing music will often increase patient enjoyment and add value to treatment sessions.

Whether you play music in your clinic rooms or waiting room, from a CD, downloaded music, or online including radio and TV you need to be licensed.

We are all trying to earn a living and as you as a practitioner gain benefit from other people’s work it is right that they should be rewarded.  The two licenses will cost around £200 per year so after 5 patients the cost will be covered.
